2023: Arewa Youths Kick-Start 20 Million Vote Mobilization For Osinbajo

A Northern Youth coalition has launched an awareness campaign to rally support for Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo ahead of the Kano presidential election in 2023.

Under the auspices of the Osinbajo Awareness Campaign (OAC), the group unveiled a platform to mobilize 20 million youths across the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in support of the Vice President as the only trusted candidate capable of consolidating the gains of President Mohammad Buhari’s transformation agenda.

Speaking at the launch of the group’s Kano secretariat and campaign vehicles on Sunday, Mubarak Haruna, the group’s National Coordinator, stated that Nigeria requires extremely patriotic and genuinely detribalised leaders to propel the country to greater heights.

While other pro-Osinbajo platforms, including as The Progressive Project (TPP) and the Progressive Consolidation Group (PCG), focus on the general people, OAC will organize 20 million youngsters from various political backgrounds across the nineteen Northern states.

Although Haruna stated that Vice President Osinbajo has not considered entering the race, he stated that the group is ready to wage an intensive campaign across the Northern portion of the country and drum up support for his candidacy in 2023.

The coordinator emphasized that Professor Osinbajo has proved expertise and loyalty in managing a complicated institution like Nigeria, citing how he tirelessly stabilized the nation’s economy while serving as a special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Haruna noted that Osinbajo’s pragmatic demonstration of commitment to progressive ideals, honesty, and people-focused leadership by example can be seen in the Buhari administration’s social empowerment program, which includes cash transfers and trader money, and has positively impacted the lives of many poor and less privileged Nigerians across the country.

Aside from the mobilization program, Haruna stated that the group will soon begin collecting public opinion and data in order to build a grassroots-oriented public agenda for Osinbajo’s presidential ambitions in 2023.

“We are initiating an awareness campaign across the Northern states to rally support for Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo as our next president.”

“None of us have ever met him in person, but based on what we know, we are sure that the Vice President is the only tested and trusted candidate who can carry on President Muhammadu Buhari’s good achievements.”

“It is clear that Professor Osinbajo is a visionary leader, a patriotic citizen whose devotion to one indivisible Nigeria is unwavering; he is a detribalised Nigerian who is universally accepted across the country, regardless of religion or tribe.” “We’d back him up to make sure he wins,” Haruna stated.

In response to the question of whether the APC should zone the presidential ticket to the South or the North, Haruna passionately rejected the call, particularly from Northern leaders, to keep power in the North.

Haruna argued that if the APC truly believes in keeping a highly cohesive federation, it should consider shifting power to the South.
