Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, the Alaafin of Oyo, has encouraged Nigerians to reject those who advocate for the country’s fragmentation. He advised them to work toward the advancement of the unit.

Oba Adeyemi III delivered the advise yesterday at the Royal Gold Model Group of Schools’ inauguration of 35 classrooms and the laying of the foundation stone for a mosque in Ibadan.

According to the traditional ruler, a number of events in the past contributed to ethnicity and tribalism among Nigerians.

He urged Nigerians to find a way to forgive one another and put the past behind them in order to bring the country forward.

“I don’t believe that dividing the state is the answer, but I do believe that we can rebuild the country in such a way that we can live in peace and harmony.

“In order to prevent Nigeria from disintegration, we must unite,” Alaafin stated.

He praised the school’s owner, Alhaji Taofeek Akewugbagold, for encouraging Nigerians to unite.

Muslims, according to Akewugbagold, should not discriminate against people who practice other religions.

“There should be no animosity or taking up arms against one another,” he stated. Every person should be able to worship in his or her own unique way.

The school’s owner stated that he plans to construct another mosque in Lagos State, which will be named after Prophet Muhammed.
