Arsene Wenger Finally Lands New Coaching Gig Years After Quitting Arsenal

Arsene Wenger, the legendary Arsenal manager, will return to management for the first time since leaving the club in January 2018.

Wenger is coaching a combined team of players from two of the Kingdom’s top clubs in the 2022 Riyadh Season Cup.

It is Wenger’s first professional coaching position since leaving Arsenal after 22 years. Riyadh Season begins this month, with global entertainment festivals lasting through March of the next year.

The festivities will take place in 14 distinct zones throughout the Saudi capital. The Riyadh Season Cup will be one of them, with a team comprising Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr players taking on European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, who feature the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar.

Wenger will take leadership of the home squad when PSG visits Saudi Arabia for the first time in the third week of 2022. Via Twitter on Sunday, Saudi Royal Court Advisor Turki Alsheikh confirmed Wenger’s job.

“The famous international coach Arsene Wenger has been signed to lead the players of Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr in the cup against Paris Saint-Germain,” he tweeted.

Wenger, who left Arsenal in 2018, is now FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development. During his time at Arsenal, the Frenchman won three English Premier League titles and seven FA Cups, leading the club to an unbeaten league season in 2003/04.
