Gunmen kidnapped four people in Ilasa Ekiti, Ekiti East Local Government Area of the state, during a midnight raid on Wednesday.
The attackers invaded Eti-Ero farmland in Ilasa Ekiti around 1:30 a.m. and looted the place, according to eyewitnesses in the neighborhood.
A toddler believed to be Yoruba and three Ebira farmers were kidnapped and brought to an unknown location, according to several accounts.
“The shooters arrived at 1.30 a.m. and began shooting sporadically,” the person said. The gunfire caused a lot of terror, so some brave people had to flee out of their buildings and into the woods.
“While they were firing, they were investigating all of the buildings, and while they were searching, they discovered the home of a youngster who was confirmed to be under the age of ten years old, as well as three other farmers.
“They were whisked away to an unknown location, and no one has been contacted as of yet.”
When contacted, ASP Sunday Abutu, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ekiti Command, stated that two people were kidnapped, not four.
“Even the cops were able to save one of the abductees from the kidnappers, and one individual was arrested in connection with the midnight raid.
“Our men are looking through the bushes for the single individual they have in custody.
We assure the people of Ekiti State that he will be rescued and that the perpetrators will be apprehended and brought to justice,” Abutu stated.
