Bandits Release 90 Students, Staff Of Federal Government College Kebbi

After 118 days in captivity, bandits in Northwest Nigeria have released 90 abducted students and staff from the Federal Government College (FGC) in Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State.

DSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the students’ and teachers’ release to reporters but provided no further details.

A father of one of the abducted students, who did not want to be identified, also confirmed the students’ release.

“Yes. They were released yesterday but remain in the custody of the authorities. They will be subjected to a medical examination before being released to their parents,” he explained.

When asked if a ransom was paid before the bandits released the students, he replied, “I am not going to speak on that.” I hope the authorities can provide a more detailed explanation.”
