Coalition Of Nigeria Opposition Parties Call For Impeachment Of Buhari, Lawan, Gbajabiamila

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has called for President Muhammadu Buhari to be impeached by the National Assembly.

Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the spokesperson, made the announcement at a press conference on Wednesday.

He said that the President had abused his power, committed egregious misbehavior, and failed to protect Nigerian citizens’ lives and property.

According to Ugochinyere, life in Nigeria has become so cheap that leaders “don’t even exhibit empathy anymore.”

People are becoming unfeeling, according to the CUPP, because indiscriminate killings have become the norm, and each new fatality is taken for granted.

The parties urged opposition lawmakers to work “in conjunction with patriotic members of the APC who are imprisoned and seeking release to immediately begin action and impeach the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and the House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila.”

Both chambers’ leaders, according to the CUPP, have failed to guide their colleagues in acting as checks and balances on the Executive.

“They are no longer respected since certain members of the Executive disregard them, even when they are summoned.

“Lawmakers are no longer respected and even when they officially call members of the Executive, they are ignored because they are constantly travelling from office to office begging, blackmailing, and stealing whatever they can.”

Ugochinyere revealed that the CUPP has filed a complaint in the Federal High Court seeking an order of mandamus to compel the National Assembly to carry out its constitutional duty of examining the several charges of gross misconduct leveled against Buhari.
