Travel restrictions for Nigerians will be eased beginning October 4, according to the United Kingdom.
The British high commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, announced this in a statement on Saturday.
According to her, starting of October 4, there would be a single red list of countries and territories subject to tougher limitations, as well as a ‘rest of the world’ list with fewer restrictions.
“Countries now on the UK’s amber list, such as Nigeria, will be included on the ‘rest of the world’ list,” Laing said.
“The United Kingdom is dedicated to facilitating international travel, and we are utilizing our COVID-19 vaccine certification process to ensure that individuals who wish to visit the UK do so securely.
“We understand how important this is to many people in the UK and Nigeria — our bilateral relationship is built on our substantial people-to-people ties.”
The vaccines being delivered in Nigeria are approved by the United Kingdom, according to Laing.
