EFCC Operatives Intercepts Five Oil Tankers, Arrest 12 Suspected Illegal Oil Dealers In Port Harcourt

Twelve (12) suspected illegal oil sellers and five oil tankers have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Port Harcourt.

This was revealed in a statement on the commission’s Facebook page. The suspects were apprehended on Tuesday at the Nigeria Port Authority’s (NPA) headquarters in Onne, Rivers State, according to the EFCC.

Sunday Ogbuji, Okereke Henry, Chijoke Sunday Sunshine, Anayo Egwatu, Nnana Jonah, Tambari Doneh, Atoyebi Taye, Baba Emmanuel, Chigoze Ikemefula, Uba Promise, Ekibor Ekele, and Ikechukwu Christian are the suspects, according to the report.

They were apprehended beside five oil tankers with the following registration numbers: DEG 54 XS; BND 401 ZN; BGM 140 XA, UGH 553 XR, and AKD 238 XS, according to the anti-graft agency.

The suspects would be charged in court soon, according to the statement.

In another news, Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has dismissed as fake, the report that he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), assuring his supporters that there was nothing to worry about.

In a statement by his Media Adviser, Uche Anichukwu, the senator said the report, like others before it, represented only the “unholy imagination of the authors and their sponsors”

In a post on his verified Facebook account, @iamekweremadu, the Senator said: “My attention has been called to a fake story making the round purporting that I was arrested by the EFCC. I could not have bothered about such spurious tales, but for the concerns shown by my friends and supporters through calls and messages.
