EFCC recovers N1 billion from civil servant
The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has revealed that the commission was able to recover N1 billion from the bank account of a civil servant.
EFCC arrests former Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, over alleged diversion of N9 billion
Bawa disclosed this on Thursday, May 21, when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Finance at the National Assembly probing the internally generated revenue (IGRs) of about 600 MDAs and checking to see their level of compliance with rules and regulations.
The EFCC Chairman stated that as much as the country needs to generate revenue to finance various projects, more efforts should be put into plugging leakages in the system.
He said:
“It is good for us to observe for now and wait for your Committe I conclude it’s work so that whatever report you have and anyone that your Committe decides, we are ready to take it up from there.
We have recovered over N1 billion sitting in the account of a civil servant last week” .
Bawa also expressed his worry that many government agencies do not have audit reports since they were established.
