Ex-lawmaker Tells Buhari, APC To Address Unemployment, Hunger In Nigeria

Senator Sam Anyanwu of the Eighth Senate has accused President Muhammadu Buhari with being proactive in dealing with Nigeria’s political and socioeconomic shortcomings.

Anyanwu, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator representing Imo East Senatorial District, urged President Buhari to address hunger in the country as soon as possible.

He urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leaders to avoid being clannish about issues affecting Nigerians and instead search for better solutions to address unemployment, high food prices, and starvation in the country.

“President Muhammadu Buhari’s led APC administration should be aware that the only way to solve the current situation in Nigeria is to respect the rights of every component unit,” he says, and he charges the Federal and State governments to “immediately open channels of dialogue to weigh options and adapt where necessary.”

While expressing optimism that the current security threat throughout the country will be eliminated, the PDP chieftain condemned the use of force on Nigerians by security agents, stressing that in a genuine democratic setting, citizens are prioritized above everything else.

Anyanwu, who issued the charge in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media, Ikenna Onuoha, urged lawmakers against making unguarded utterances that could jeopardize the country’s peace and security.

The former congressman warned them not to hide behind Nigeria’s existing security issues in order to provoke further panic and mayhem by heating up the political situation. He warned them not to feed the issue in order to achieve their selfish goals.
