FG Approves Payment Of N75,000 Stipend To Varsity Undergraduates Studying Education Related Courses, N50,000 For NCE Students

The Nigerian Federal Government, led by President Muhammadu Buhari, has approved a stipend of N75,000 per semester for students pursuing degree programs in education at public universities across the country.

The federal government also sanctioned a stipend of N50,000 per semester for students pursuing the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).

The approval of the stipends was announced by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu, on Tuesday during the World Teachers’ Day event in Eagle Square, Abuja.

The minister, whose speech was delivered by Arc. Sonny Echono, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, said his ministry would work with state governments to ensure that students are automatically employed upon graduation.

“Undergraduate B.Ed / B.A. Ed / BSc. Ed students in public institutions would receive stipends of N75,000.00 every semester, while NCE students will receive stipends of N50,000.00 per semester,” he stated.

“The Federal Government should devise a way for state governments to guarantee automatic employment for NCE graduates at the Basic Education level,” Adamu said.
