Unknown gunmen raided the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ebonyi State’s Ohaukwu Local Government Area and rescued people who had been imprisoned there.
The event, which occurred on Monday morning, threw the neighborhood into disarray as residents and officers scrambled for safety.
Loveth Odah, the spokesperson for the Ebonyi State Police Command, confirmed the attack to newsmen.
She stated that police from the command had been dispatched to the impacted station.
She was unable to provide details about the attack, but according to accounts, the hoodlums also set fire to operational cars, and some cops were shot.
The incident could be linked to the current instability in some regions of the southeast as a result of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, declaring a sit-at-home order.
