Hyundai Motor Unveils Fashion Collection

Hyundai Motor has unveiled its Re:Style 2021 fashion line.

The collection, designed in collaboration with fashion designers L’Eclaireur and Boontheshop, consists of 12 items made from discarded wearable components from vehicles. Re:Style is in its third year and is a celebration of upcycling and eco-friendly fashion.

The collection, which includes track jackets, sweatshirts, zip-up hoodies, short pants, and long pants, is limited in quantity.

The online stores will be open for four weeks, from October 14 to November 10, and will be open for two weeks between October 14 and October 28.

The materials were initially produced with eco-friendly materials and were repurposed from unwanted things such as airbags and seatbelts.

“We hope that this project serves as a focal point for young customers around the world to understand the impact of manufacturing leftover materials on our environment and how we can creatively and practically repurpose them,” said Thomas Schemera, global chief marketing officer and head of Hyundai Motor Company’s customer experience division.

Hyundai Motor will reinvest the proceeds in environmentally friendly projects. An internet video starring various celebrities and influencers was used to advertise the collection. The video, which included Re:Style merchandise, attempted to highlight the campaign’s ideology.

“As a fashion distribution firm, we have always been concerned about the impact of discarded garment materials on our world,” stated Michael Hadida, CEO of L’Eclaireur.

“By reusing the wearable elements from vehicle manufacture and reinvesting the earnings in other projects, we seek to establish a virtuous circle of sustainability and contribute uniquely to the preservation of our world.”

Hyundai has committed to a variety of efforts in order to become more environmentally friendly.
Hyundai said at the 2021 IAA Mobility conference that it aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2045.

With the introduction of the IONIQ 5, Hyundai unveiled its new Hyundai Electric Global Modular Platform, emphasizing the company’s commitment to electric vehicles. The recycled fibers that were used in the IONIQ 5 were also used in the Re:Style collection.
