NARD Elects New Leaders, Gives FG 72-Hour Ultimatum To Pay Doctors’ Salary Arrears

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has given the federal government 72 hours to pay the wage arrears owed to its members.

At a press conference yesterday, the group issued the ultimatum following the swearing-in of new NARD leaders. The event was held in Bauchi State.

According to Dare Ishaya, the association’s new president, the continuing strike, which began on August 2, would continue until the association’s “fundamental demands” are realized.

“The annual general assembly overwhelmingly resolved by votes to keep the total and indefinite strike action going until our minimum demands are met,” Ishaya said.

The group also asked the federal government to withdraw the court proceedings against NARD in the interest of peace.
