Nigeria has exhausted its hajj 2022 slots – NAHCON



The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) said the 2022 Hajj quota allocated to the country has been exhausted.

Recall that the Saudi authorities had allocated 43,008 while NAHCON allocated 33, 976 to states and 9, 032 to tour operators.

NAHCON in a statement by its Assistant Director Public Affairs, Fatima Sanda Usara, Thursday, said it exhausted its quota long before now. 


It also expressed hope that all Hajj managers had utilised their allocations based on first come, first served arrangement as agreed from the onset of operations.

The Commission assured that if Saudi Arabia honours its request for additional slots, NAHCON would willingly distribute same to all stakeholders requesting additional allocations without hesitation.

The statement partly read: “In the meantime, NAHCON urges all states’ pilgrims’ boards and private operators to concentrate more on getting their pilgrims ready for their timely conveyance to Saudi Arabia. The need to move all registered pilgrims to the Kingdom safely before the closure of Saudi airspace is presently NAHCON’s most important concern.

“Similarly, the Commission assures Licensed Tour Operators that initial drawbacks experienced due to unforeseen developments in the new operational system have been successfully settled therefore, they are expected to commence printing of their pilgrims’ travel documents without delay.”
