In less than 24 hours after going live, Nigeria’s eNaira platform had over a million hits.

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) official website, eNaira, has gone live, exactly one week after the initiative’s introduction.

The eNaira is a digital currency that the central bank will issue. Only 24 hours after coming up, the website had over a million visitors.

This demonstrates the level of enthusiasm for the proposed digital currency.

The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, recently stated at a conference of international investors in New York that the October 1 launch date will most likely be postponed due to activities surrounding the country’s Independence Day celebrations. The launch, according to Emefiele, will take place on October 4, 2021.

Bitt Inc., a worldwide fintech startup, has been named as the apex bank’s technical partner for the development of its digital currency.
