Nursing mother and her baby were kidnapped in Zamfara

Unidentified gunmen suspected to be notorious abductors have kidnapped a nursing mother and her eight-month-old baby in Gusau, Zamfara State.

The woman’s mother’s husband, Babangida Damba said he sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds in the process of trying to save his wife and child.

” I was shot severally in my hands and I received various degrees of injuries while trying to protect my family” he lamented.

Mallam Damba explained that the incident occurred when the armed bandits stormed the Damba low-cost housing estate in Gusau Zamfara.

DAILY SCOOP gathered that the bandits were four in number and had bandied sophisticated weapons, scaring away residents in the early hours of Wednesday.

They allegedly shot sporadically in the air which making residents scamper for safety.

Eyewitnesses said the criminals forced their way into the residence of Mallam Babangida Damba and shot him in the hand while his wife and their eight months old baby were taken away.

The sources said the operation lasted for forty-five minutes without the presence of any security intervention

When contacted, the state Police Command’s Spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu confirmed the incident.

He, however, said that armed troops of the command have been dispatched to trail the kidnappers and to ensure the possible rescue of the nursing mother and her eight months old child.
