Ooni, Alaafin, Others Pray For Tinubu Ahead Of 2023



Prominent traditional rulers in Yorubaland, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, on Saturday prayed for Chief Tajudeen Owoyemi who was installed as the third Asiwaju of Offa in Kwara State.

The Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, welcomed scores of traditional rulers from across the country to witness the installation of Owoyemi, who succeeded late Chief J. S. Olawoyin and late Chief Emmanuel Adesoye respectively.


Also, his wife, Alhaja Riuanatu, was installed as Yeye Asiwaju of Offa.

Among the traditional rulers present at the occasion were Oba Saheed Elegushi of Ikateland, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, the Oniru of Iruland, both from Lagos State and Alhaji Mohammed Kudu, the Emir of Lafiagi in Kwara State.


In his brief sermon, the Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muideen Hussein, urged the people to remember their community by bringing their investments to their roots and use their wealth to develop the people.

Hussein who said it was the contribution of Owoyemi and his wife that made the people to honour them with the chieftaincy title urged those who hold political positions to always remember the people when they are in power.


He also reminded the people to always take care of their monarch, adding that they were selected to develop their community.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has congratulated Owoyemi, a doyen of the hospitality industry on his investiture as the Asiwaju of Offa Kingdom.


In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Saturday, the governor described the Asiwaju of Offa as a quintessential leader of Nigeria’s hospitality industry and a pride of the state.

AbdulRazaq said the recognition highlights his excellent contributions to the growth of not just his community but the state as a whole.


He added, “It is gratifying to see Chief Owoyemi being recognised in this big way by His Royal Majesty Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Oloyede Esuwoye II. It is an affirmation of what Chief Owoyemi stands for: hard work, excellent leadership qualities and passion for serving the people within his sphere of influence.

“On behalf of the people and Government of Kwara State, I congratulate the Asiwaju of Offa Kingdom, and wish him good health and long years of excellent service to humanity especially the people of Offa Kingdom.”
