The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a viral video about the Customs office complex in the state capital, Yola, being attacked.
The police stated Friday that the Adamawa/Taraba Area Command headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), located in the Jimeta area of Yola, is intact.
It explained that the video in question captures the attack on the office complex in 2020 in the heat of the EndSARS protests that hit many parts of the country.
“This trending video going round social media about attack on Customs House in Yola is an incident that occured during End-SARS saga sometime in October 2020,” the police said in a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Nguroje.
The police added, “It is important to note that since October 2020, Adamawa State has never experienced any protest. The people of Adamawa are peace-loving and law-abiding. The command wishes to advise members of the public to disregard the trending video.”
DAILY POST reports that this is the second time this year that the viral video in question is being posted on social media to fool members of the public about the Customs House in Yola.
The video had earlier surfaced in January, and the Nigeria Customs Service itself had to write a statement to debunk the information.
The statement, released by the Adamawa/Taraba Area Command on January 13, 2022, explained that the clip was a re-cycled video of the #EndSARS looting of the Customs House on October 26, 2020.
