Afenifere stated that it would not participate in the one-month shutdown of Nigeria.

A high-ranking Afenifere chieftain, who did not want to be identified, hinted that shutting down Nigeria is not on the agenda.

He stated that Afenifere should not be involved in any attempt to shut down Nigeria.

“That is not on our agenda; if they think it is important, they can shut down the country, but they should not mention us in such a situation.”

“We don’t want to be a part of it since it isn’t on our agenda at all.” He stated, “We are not in the business of shutting down the country.”

IPOB had encouraged Oduduwa and Middle Belt agitators to join them in shutting down Nigeria on October 21.

Other ethnic groups should join the Igbos in closing down Nigeria if Nnamdi Kanu is not brought before the court on the next adjourned date, according to the separatist group.
